Alabaster Of XIX Eme Century Climb On Calvary flag

Object description :

"Alabaster Of XIX Eme Century Climb On Calvary"
Large alabaster plaque carved in high relief representing the climb to Calvary.
Nineteenth century in the spirit of the fifteenth century.
We see Christ carrying the Cross, an angel kneeling beside him, helping him in the effort. the sad virgin Marie stands on the left, a Roman soldier stands behind him and watches the scene.
the execution is naive but gives off a strong dramatic intensity!
illegible text is written down in a cartridge.
this plate was formerly sealed, traces of cement is at the back.
Very pretty patina and even if the quality of execution remains naive the whole is very coherent and releases a great strength!
old traces of polychromy.
no restoration to report.
