He is represented half-length, his gaze riveted on the painter who represents him and is distinguished by his beautiful dark dress against a monochrome ocher background. On the reverse, we read an inscription in German in which, among the different words, the name of a person "Franz Betz" and "in Aschaffenburg" the Bavarian city in which the painting was probably painted.
