Louis XV Commode Of Shape Tomb, Port Work Of The North In The Eighteenth Century

Louis XV solid mahogany chest of drawers with front and curved sides, it opens with four drawers in three rows, the curved, unmounted and molded amounts end with volute feet adorned with stylized foliage, they are joined by a low crosspiece elegantly carved with a shell, acanthus leaves and scrolls. The curved sides are divided into three equal panels, the top is molded of a beak of corbin. The back and the interiors of drawers are in oak of very good quality on quarter. Dutch-influenced bronze pull handles and lock entries are original, the two locks on the small top drawers are missing, the other iron locks are vintage. This rare Portoire dresser in solid mahogany is not Bordelaise but a manufacture between Dunkirk and Holland, several details in its construction, the choice of bronzes and locks, the dexterity of the sculptor confirms this attribution.
