Within each country, histories are provided of the known potteries of Majolica ware along with photographs of all known character pitchers produced by
such potteries. This book is the culmination of over 100 years of collecting experience and five years of research and travel on the part of the authors throughout the United States, England, France and the rest of Continental Europe.

Steve Mullins is a graduate of Dartmouth College and the University of Michigan Business school and is the Chairman of a Chicago based real estate investment firm. He started collecting Toby and Character jugs as a teenager 70 years ago. Today the collection numbers over 8000 jugs from around the world , dating from the earliest produced in the 1760's to the latest 21st Century ones. The collection is now on display in The American Toby Jug Museum in Evanston. The majolica character pitchers collection in the Museum features more then 500 examples, and is considered one of the finest and most complete in the world. Having raised three children, and now blessed with 4 grandchildren, he resides in Evanston, Illinois with his wife, Carol.
