"Lavroff George Russe" Bronze by George Lavroff "Lioness with his lion cub" sign and numbered 7934 Russian sculptor George Lavroff was born in Siberia on April 18, 1895. He first produced his works in Siberia, then in Moscow. In 1927 he was sent to France where he creates many art deco animal sculptures. Lavroff's sculptures, made in bronze and ceramics by publishers, will make his reputation in the West. Back in Moscow in 1935, Geroge Lavroff becomes an official artist and creates monumental sculptures and busts of Soviet leaders. Sculptor George Lavroff dies August 29, 1991.
