The middle ice consists of a flat glass plate lined with tin and lead immersed in a bath of mercury to dissolve them. Tin associated with lead then giving this hot and luminous side to the mirror called "mercury". On the back in the middle part of the high longitudinal crossbar, an elegant polylobée fitting centered of a circular ring; ring where once was tied the silk ribbon to suspend it. In the years 1660-1670 this type of mirrors were adorned with Venetian ice or thin ice, even earlier copper or silver plates; the one we present to you is embellished with a mercury ice cream, which allows us to give it a dating, around the years 1680-1700.
