"Series Of Four Orientalist Drawings"
Series of four Orientalist drawings (Eastern Europe), probably preparatory to engravings or illustrations. They are annotated by the artist (precision of colors, titles, places) and appear (from left to right): "Peasant in the neighborhood of Sarajevo"; "Brown horse"; "Catholic woman from Sarajevo"; "Visegrad. Dervish ... " These drawings reveal the interest for Hungarian folklore and for Orientalism in Western Europe in the nineteenth century. In very good condition, they are close to the work of artists like Hippolyte Pauquet and especially Theodore Valerio. Drawings: high 24.5 cm, width 17 cm
