Old Chi-chi Carpet, Chechnya, Caucasus, 123 Cm X 174 Cm, Middle Of The XIXth Century

TCHI-TCHI carpet from Chechnya, Caucasus, from the group of cross-stitch carpets, based on the Armenian tradition.
These carpets are easily recognizable by their floral border presenting oblique sticks separating stylized flowers.
The colors of our model are blue, red, white and a very bright yellow curry, representing a highly sought,ht after combination and an orderly distribution on each pattern as well as for the borders.
The field is blue-night and is occupied by many crosses, placed offset from the cross formed by the field, making it a complex geometric game and scholar, in shape and color.
Each cross receives in its center a large stylized flower and other motifs as well as the very present letter "S", which is the first letter of the Armenian word "unbp" meaning "Almighty God" and indicates the membership of this carpet to the group of oriental Christian rugs.
The main border develops on a blue-night background many decorations of straight sticks ending in "kotchaks" horns rams.
This rug, from the mid-nineteenth century, is a beautiful collector's item with wear, so it is better to install it on the wall as a real modern art table that has nothing to envy our contemporary painters, rather than to install it on the ground.
