Beautiful and bright work of the painter Clement Clément Brun who represents a view of the market of fruits and vegetables in the Place Pie in Avignon (Vaucluse).

Pupil of Pierre Grivolas in Avignon, then Tony Robert-Fleury and Bouguereau in Paris, Clément Brun exhibited at the Salon of French Artists from 1886 to 1914 where he won several awards. In 1897, at the Salon des Artistes Français, he presented a similar work entitled "On Place Pie in Avignon".
In 1899 he became deputy director of the Julian Academy.
In 1901, he participated in the decoration of the station of Lyon-Perrache.
In 1912, he created the Group of Thirteen in rupture with the Vauclusienne Society of Arts. This group is made up of eleven painters and two sculptors.
Nb: Two small old restorations are visible on the back of the canvas.
