"Pietà. Vesperbild. Germany XVIII E."
German sculpture of the Virgin carrying the body of Jesus descended from the cross. This model strongly resembles the Pietà found in the Bonn Museum dating from the Middle Ages to 1360. From an unknown artist, it is named after its last owner and collector Carl Roettgen. Bonn Rheinischen Landesmuseum. Our Pietà or Vesperbild dates from the eighteenth. The hands of Christ are glued together.
