Inkwell or writing desk Louis XV period It is composed of three containers stamped "C" crowned, covered, including a central bell. The set formerly silvered brass is presented on a molded wood tray and fretwork We find this hallmark on some bronzes. Designed under Louis XV to be a stamp on metals to finance the wars of succession of Austria, the crowned C became also for collectors a hallmark of quality and date: used between 1745 and 1749, each bronze out of a workshop during this period was to be hallmarked.
