Exceptional and rare dresser with crossbow facade.

The amounts are plucked in precious wood veneer and blond, decorated with a marquetry of nets and rhombuses.
The sides are flared and ended by a slight jump. They have a diamond decoration inserted in a double frame.

It opens with 5 drawers on 3 rows. These drawers, made of oak wood, are mounted with great precision. They are separated by visible sleepers, frieze chevrons.

She is dressed of a rich ornamentation of bronzes of origin, chiselled and gilded (entries of locks, falls, hands of draw, slippers, cul of lamp ...) with rocaille decoration.

Its floor receives a magnificent marble Aleppo breccia, sinuous, with double beak of corbin and a thickness of 32 mm

This dresser is stamped "F G", 6 times, on the 4 uprights and the anterior cross.

A crossbow dresser, same model but of lower quality, is kept at the Museum of Decorative Arts of Paris

Regency period - 1st half of the 18th century

François GARNIER
Father of the famous cabinetmaker Pierre Garnier, François Garnier worked rue du Faubourg-Saint Antoine where he was sworn of the corporation of carpenters-cabinetmakers from 1742 to 1744.
The use of the stamp is not mandatory during the beginning of his career, few books could be attributed with certainty. However the signed furniture that we find are very meticulous and a real talent.
He died in Paris in 1774 rue des Moineaux.
