(American - naturalized French and active in France)
Painter of urban landscapes, marine - watercolorist - engraver - draftsman
In Paris, he was a student at the Ecole des Beaux Arts and then exhibited regularly at the Salon des Artistes Français - In 1885, he exhibited in New York and Chicago in 1893 alongside the American Impressionists.Amoureux of Paris, its quays and his monuments, attached to the banks of the Seine all along his course - insatiable admirer of French and foreign ports, he has multiplied the views of these sites in paintings solidly built - the sky swept clouds, often covered. - Thus Boggs painted in Normandy, Brittany, Holland, England and Venice - His favorite motives are the rivers and ports whose aquatic element allows him to suggest the multiple shades of the atmosphere.
He has also illustrated with his very popular watercolors.
