Yvan Theys (1936 to Marke in Belgium - 2005) Belgian Flemish painter and sculptor. He graduated from the Saint-Luc School of Arts in Tournai. He will become a professor in 1959, in the same Institute, following Eugène Dodeigne. He remained professor for 37 years, until 1996. He began his career as a painter in the 1960s, developing a personal art close to the new abstraction outside the currents of ambient Pop Art. In 1963, he began his first solo exhibitions, and received, a year later, the "First Prize Young Belgian Painting Award" .Exposing with Roger Raveel and the Dutch Alphons Freymuth and Reinier Lucassen, they develop a new vision between the figuration and abstraction: without really forming a group, but they will be at the foundation of the New Figuration. In 1965, he represented Belgium at the IV ° Biennial of Paris at the Museum of Modern Art. Works in many museums in Belgium, Pils-Bas, USA.
