"Pair Of Miniatures Persanes XIXth"
Known as "Persian Miniatures", this type of illustration is found from Turkey to India and are sometimes very old, but as early as the 19th century, like our "grand tour" objects, local artisans made interpretations, often on older sheets of reuse, account books or tales, to satisfy the demand of tourists. Ours are related to these, although old and show scenes of hunting or encampment in sublime borders with jasmine decoration. Painted on leaves about 25 X 14 cm, as they were fragile, I made them complete with Japanese paper in the format 31 X 20 cm to have more latitude of framing and to handle them easily. Gouache and heightened golden powder, text in Arabic calligraphy on the back. Do not hesitate to ask us by email or phone for additional information or photos. We have many objects and paintings to restore in our shop / capharnaüm / deposit of Pau where I let myself a little invade and for which we favor the sale on the spot, preferably in lots. Come help us tidy up buying! Other photos and many other objects in our shops in Pau and Biarritz and on our website: galerielhoste.com.
