'' The washerwomen '' oil on canvas signed lower right H. 38 cm W. 55 cm Jules-Justin Claverie was born in Marseille on June 6, 1859 where he died in 1932. Pupil of Dominique Antoine Magaud he exhibited at the Salon des French artists from 1897 to 1931. He won several awards, including a third class medal in 1912 and a gold medal in 1923 for '' An old manor on the pond '' and '' Hameau en Provence ''. many regional exhibitions and became a professor at the School of Fine Arts in Marseille.
