Important oil painting painting on canvas Art Deco early twentieth Charles Francois Prosper GUERIN (1875-1939) signed on the top right of his monogram CH-G and countersigned on the back by the artist. Provenance: Villa La Marnière in Ittré near Brussels (original label with the name of its former owner). Great impressionist composition depicting a gallant scene in a lively park of three characters surrounded by little cupids. Good condition. Gilded wooden frame with fan pattern in the corners. Dimensions: 1 m 20 X 98 cm Charles Guérin is a painter from Burgundy, he worked in Paris under the direction of Gustave Moreau at the School of Fine Arts and belonged to the impressionist current, admiring Monet and Renoir his art passes for revolutionary at the time because of his palette freedom ahead of fauvism. He is a professor in Paris at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière and head of the painting workshop, the Grande Masse des Beaux-Arts, from 1937 to 1939 at the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux-Arts. He exhibited at the Salon d'Automne which he is one of the founders. He will illustrate many works including "Daphnis and Chloe", "Manon Lescaut" and will perform sets and costumes for the theater. Some of his works are preserved at the Petit Palais and the Museum of Modern Art as well as Aix en Provence, Caen, Epinal, Nimes, Caen, Mainz, in various international museums such as Venice, Tokyo, Geneva, Hermitage Museum from St. Petersburg and Moscow, Helsinki, Munich.
