Charles Counhaye, born in Verviers in 1884 and died in Brussels in 1971, is a Belgian painter, engraver and decorator. Charles Counhaye received his artistic training at the academy of Verviers, then at that of Brussels at Constant Montald. He settled for eight months in Paris where he was influenced by Fauvism and Cubism. Evolve towards expressionism. From 1926 to 1949, he was professor at the Institute of Decorative Arts in La Cambre in Brussels, where he influenced some followers of monumental painting with a social tendency. In addition to painting, he is also interested in decorative arts, including tapestry, fresco and stained glass.
