And yet, this charming pastel is indeed the work of Alfredo Ramos Martinez (1871-1946) which, before to become "the father of Mexican Modernism" and of which Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera and Alfredo Siqueiros were a little children, had a classical training and worked in this register in Los Angeles and especially in Paris where he surely realized this work. I was fortunate to find it in its "gross attic" state, very dirty inside the window and with the rough frame and thanks to a museum restoration of the Christian Olive workshop, I can present it in a correct, apart from the reflections on the glass !
This dapper young woman with a feathered hat and a few heart-catching loops, with a devastating smile and a bodice adorned with a peony, demonstrates the mastery of her author, who painted it in 1911.
Pastel 71 X 54 cm, reassembled in "sandwich" with extensions and cardboard neutral pH by spinettes in its original frame (Maïtena restoration in Hasparren) 94 X 75 cm.
