"Large Tortoise Sculpture Signed Hans Marks 1994"
Plaster sculpture with bronze patina of a surreal turtle 1.30 m high, signed "Hans" and dated "94" on the terrace. Work named "Galapagos" by the artist. Hans Marks was born in 1946 in Darjeeling in the foothills of the Himalayas, grew up in England, sold second-hand cars in Turkey while reading Steinbeck, became a ceramist then sculptor and presented his sculptures of international exhibitions of modern art at contemporary art fairs, from Paris to Florence, from Brussels to New York. The works of HANS are best known by a discreet public of amateurs and collectors in Europe and the USA. His "Happy Sisyphus" - a 2.70m bronze monument between the Arc de Triomphe and La Grande Arche - is now one of the public monuments of Paris.
