Object description :

" Bronze Sculpture "arab Storyteller" By Charles Ponsin-andarahy (1835 -1885)"
Bronze sculpture with medal patina representing a seated old man who seems to tell an invisible audience, we do not know what story. The harmonious posture of the character, the curves of the body - back, arms, legs almost crossed - make him adopt a pose typically oriental, that come to support the presence and the detail of the necklace around the neck of the storyteller and the carpet on which he sits. This work is part of the orientalist movement that marked the nineteenth century, both in literature, painting and sculpture. Signature of the sculptor on the base.
