"Wardrobe Transition Solid Cherry Wood Very Fine Engraving"
This is a rather beautiful tall French mid-18th century Transition solid cherrywood cupboard wardrobe with bonnet top, decorative shaped panels and original brass door furniture and locks. Fitted interior, including three shelves and two drawer drawers, circa 1760. The tall cabinet stands on curved feet. The front part is carved in very Fine classicism floral design. The piece is in excellent condition with a lovely cherrywood patina, the surface is re-waxed. This office would make a nice addition to a bedroom, kitchen or butler's pantry. Measures: Width 140cm (150cm including top hat) x depth 60cm x 232cm height The Transition style (circa 1750-1774), as its name indicates, marks the transition between the extravagance of the Louis XV period and the return to the more Classic style of Louis XVI. It is a return to straight lines, perfect symmetry and a respect for proportions.
