"Paul Molinard : "the Sunday Promenade""
If the Bénézit classifies Paul Molinard (1861-1942) as a marine painter, a glance at all of his works shows us that it is somewhat reductive! We certainly see strikes animated or not by ships, but also landscapes, animated scenes in oil or as here, a mixed technique mixing watercolor and colored pencils on a 72 x 54 cm cartoline, a varnish slightly yellowed covering the whole which gives it a somewhat old-fashioned charm that goes well with the subject, Sunday outing by the river with fisherman, children and mother under the poplars.
Typically 1920, close to the contemporary works of Lebasque or Espagnat.
