"French Empire Clock "little Red Riding Hood", Le Roi"
As described in the book "French Bronze Clock", written by Elke Niehüser and published by A Schiffer Book, fairy tale subjects are particularly rare during the early nineteenth century as their diffusion occurred only during the Romanticism of the end of the century. It’s beautiful the representation of the girl who appears frightened and at the same time intrigued by the almost docile approach of the wolf, that seems like talking to her and reassuring her of its harmlessness.
Case: gilded and patinated bronze, above the base we see the figures of Little Red Riding Hood and the wolf, with a wooden house behind them in which the clock is placed.
Movement: Swiss, escapement anchor with silk suspension, striking at hours and quarters at the passage on double bell.
