"Napoleon III Ceremonial Console In Golden Wood"
Large 19th century ceremonial console from Napoleon III period in carved and gilded wood with a rich neoclassical decor in pure Louis XIV style with an architectural form structure with a belt carved with grooves adorned with leafy escutcheons and flowering branches with emerging scrolls framing an imposing mascaron with a female figure wearing a plume. It rests on four large legs in double console sheath animated with molded and openwork patterns garnished with acanthus caps, florets and gadroons. The spacer is in broad animated cross with the decoration of acanthus leaves forming a central flat carved with a shell and a heliotrope flower, this flower commonly called sunflower follows each day the evolution of the sun, subject to its good want, it symbolized the loyalty of the people to King Louis XIV baptized the Sun King. The top has a veined white marble top. Dimensions: 1 m 05 long X 92 cm high X 56 cm deep.
