Panderma is now called Bandirma and is located in the Marmara region of Turkey.
The Bandirma workshops, therefore formerly Panderma, were partially closed just before the Second World War.
We can therefore admire these wonderful pieces in subtle tones only in museums or private collections.
These very fine rugs are usually presented in prayer rugs with a solid mihrab in the center in delicate shades of old rose, pistachio, pale blue or ivory, the color of our model.
A wide board from which the slightly serrated Mihrab (niche) comes out, is covered with stylized, old rose eyelets, placed in a very geometric way, just like the whole of this piece.
Above and below a tree of life, dotted with red flowers.
A wide border punctuated by large apple flowers, interspersed with what can be a decoration of ram's heads in a geometrically bold design and very difficult to interpret as the shape is stylized.
The mihrah, presents within it two graceful columns, as well as the lamp, represented in a bouquet of flowers. Many small geranium flowers, a symbol used by Turkish knotters, punctuate the interior of the mihrab.
Our carpet shows us the beauty and the delicacy of execution that the Turkish knotters brought to their work and contributed to the spiritual elevation and the devotion of their sponsors.
The prayer rugs are very often in very good condition, they were carefully stored after use, for short moments of devotion.
