Ironstone porcelain, translated as "iron stone", is a kind of pottery made for the first time in the United Kingdom at the beginning of the XIXth century, by Staffordshire potters: they were looking at the time to produce a large quantity of quality porcelain for the then very demanding market.
These objects are renowned for their resistance (hence the word "iron") and above all this material made it possible to produce parts with impressive dimensions for the time.
The potter Charles Mason seems to be at the origin of the development of the ironstone, he in any case deposited the 1st the patent in 1813.
