"Jealousy. Surrealist Photograph By Hilmar Lokay Circa 1940-50"
Hilmar lived in Montparnasse in the 1930s where he met his second wife Marguerite Fatzer, sculptor and collaborator of AugusteJanniot. He was close of surrealists Chirico, Magritte, Andre Breton, Leonor Fini .. whom he portrayed. He drew a lot, a large part of his work was dispersed, when he left his hamburg workshop in 1939. He exhibited little. Essentially he had a series of photographs depicting the dolls of his sculpting wife - the photo presented being related to this exhibition. The composition of this photograph combines sculpture, references to painting. Dolls give life to eternal feelings, jealousy, love, in a strange atmosphere; we reach the disturbing strangeness.
