Bronze statue on a revolving base, late 19th century representing Psyche and Cupid, titled: "The Winning Love". Sculpture signed Adolphe Itasse, after a painting dating from 1887 by William Bouguereau. The two signatures and a numbering are present on the base. Patina of brown origin nuanced in beautiful condition according to its age, the red morello cherry ornate marble base (presence of tiny chips), against bronze base. The height indicated includes the marble base. The painter William Bouguereau was born in La Rochelle (1825/1905) in a very academic style of the second half of the 19th century, his works are widely rewarded and still inspire artists today in representations of idealized characters (cherubs, cupids… ) Adolphe Itasse born in Lourmarin in 1830 pupil of Belloc and Jacquot, inspired by Pradier, was also appreciated as a portrait painter, he exhibited in the Salons from 1864 until his death in Paris in 1893.
