This oil on canvas, representing cats in barber monkeys, is the work of the workshop of Ferdinand Van Kessel (1648-1696). The latter is mainly known for having performed his works on the theme of "antics". Ferdinand van Kessel is one of the thirteen children of Jan Van Kessel. He is also a descendant of the Brueghel dynasty (the great grandson of Jan Brueghel the Elder). On this canvas, there are no less than 15 monkeys and cats. In the foreground in the center, 2 monkeys maintain the mustache and the headdress of a cat, who is reading a book. This painting filled with humor and life fully reflects the atmosphere of a barber / hair salon. This painting dates from the end of the 17th century. This table is in good condition, restored.
