"Bronze Rare Stewpot, Switzerland Or Jura, 18th C., Good Condition"
Beautiful object, made of bronze (food bronze: airain), work of bell founders from the Jura, French or Swiss. Thanks to a lid which fits over the entire height of the container, this daubière, pheasant or chapon guarantees a perfect seal during cooking. With its three high feet, it can be placed directly on the embers. Its cover has a finely crenellated rim, allowing to place embers there, or a wet cloth in order to increase the condensation in the container. (Acknowledgments: I was inspired by the text of the Swiss Alimentarium Museum which presents a very similar one)
Period: this form is mostly 18th century (that of the museum: 1715).
Dimensions: 29 x 24 x 22 cm, weight: 5.4 cm.
No brand foundry.
Good condition, no cracks or breakage, a tooth on the cover has been replaced, nice old ankle repair: we can see that this object was very well maintained ....
