Signed lower left on the marble slice of the table: Ph. Rousseau. Philippe Rousseau: 1816 - 1887 Genre painter, animals, animated landscapes, still lifes, flowers and fruit, watercolorist. Trained by Baron Gros and Bertin as landscapers. Philippe Rousseau, "little master" of the 19th century. In 1993, The Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam displayed a set of his works.
