Persian Feraghan Antique Rug, 129 Cm X 186 Cm, Iran, Late 18th Century, Rare

Old Féraghan carpet, from the end of the 18th century or even the very beginning of the 19th century, in good condition, decorated with the herati motif and four small spandrels.
The border of the real old Feraghan presents a curious effect due to the handling of a mixture of a plant, a Persian spurge and copper sulphate which produces "wolf milk" as the locals call it, producing a corrosive effect on the velvet of the carpet and suddenly the lime green color typical of these very old carpets. This chemical reaction will bring out the decoration of the border in relief.
The Feraghans have long been the favorite carpets of the English, with soft and attractive colors.
The characteristic decoration was the herati motif with its rosette, rhombus and curly leaves.
These carpets are from the Feraghan district, east of Arak, a region of fertile plain.
Our model is in very good condition for its age, has the characteristics described above and is a very beautiful collection rug.
This carpet has been professionally and ecologically cleaned.
