"Jean-pierre Dusautoy (1719-1800), Louis XVI Salon Table, 18th C."
Writing table in rosewood and violet wood, opening with 3 drawers, marble top with Aleppo marble and surrounded by a gallery in gilded bronze, finishing four bronze clogs, Stamped IP DUSAUTOY and punch of jurande. Louis XVI period, 18th century. Jean-Pierre Dusautoy (1719-1800) Carpenter-cabinet maker. Paris. Master on September 1, 1779. He stamped his stamp with large, awkward characters on numerous small pieces of furniture: especially small bedside tables, round, rectangular or oval. Jean-Pierre Dusautoy set up his workshop on rue de Charonne where he practiced all his life. Its Louis XV, Transition and Louis XVI style furniture is of fine quality, light and elegant. Louis XV and Transition productions are generally adorned with flower inlays and braces or plain veneers with contrasting wood frames. The Louis XVI productions, with simple lines, are made of mahogany sometimes framed with bronze rods, which he used sparingly. On the whole, Dusautoy produced small furniture, mainly small bedside tables, round, oval or rectangular, with curved legs.
