Signed lower left, John Varley (1850-1933) English School, landscape painter, watercolourist and orientalist. He exhibited in London from 1870 to 1895, including at the Royal Academy in Suffolk Street. Some works are presented in museums in England (London, Leicester, Sheffield) and South Africa (Cape Town)
