Lovely oil on canvas by the painter Henry (sometimes spelled Henri) Vollet. Contemporary and close to the Pont-Aven school, Henry Vollet made numerous stays in Brittany before settling in Faoüet in the 1920s. In a style combining the ethnographic appeal of Realism with the impressionist touch, he returned with modesty the moments of Breton daily life. His works are distinguished in particular by their peaceful and gentle character translated by an admirable mastery of the rendering of lights. Several of his works are today preserved and exhibited at the Musée d'Orsay in Paris.
