"The Painter's Workshop By Cristobal Piza-ensenyat"
Oil on panel signed lower right C. Piza and dated 1892, including a presentation of a painting in the painter's studio. Beautiful wooden frame and gilded stucco with beaded decoration and bay leaves. Dimensions at sight of the painting 37x53 cm. Dimensions with frame 65x80 cm. This table is to be compared to a work by the same artist representing a scene in the same workshop and in which we find some same characters, which was sold by the auction house Anteo Subastas in San Sebastian in Spain on June 21, 2012. Piza -Ensenyat Cristobal, born in 1850 in Soller, died in 1936, Spanish, painter of landscapes and typical scenes. He was pensioned twice by the province of Palma de Mallorca to study at the Spanish Academy of Fine Arts in Rome. He stayed in Paris and Nîmes. He participated in the organization of the Universal Exhibition in Barcelona in 1888. He settled permanently in Mallorca. He participated in the National Fine Arts Exhibitions in Madrid in 1887 and 1890, as well as in exhibitions organized by the province of Palma de Mallorca. In 1929 he showed a personal exhibition of his works in Palma at the Malorquinas galleries. (cf. Benezit)
