Object description :

"J-c Claeys (1951) Original Signed Drawing, Project For The Festival Du Polar Poster"
Jean-Claude Claeys, artist of the 9th art specializing in thriller, author of comic strip and illustrator of covers of very graphic black novels (Pocket, New Oswald editions) from John Dickson Carr to Léo Mallet, listed and exhibited by galleries or publisher like Glénat in 2017.

This large lead pencil drawing, signed by the artist, where it is not this time the detective (with the square jaw typical of private Americans, spinning behind a newspaper) but the followed heroine who takes precedence over the police intrigue, is emblematic of her style.
The drawing is clear, the cinematographic figuration; theatricality of the sensual heroine with the features of a femme fatale, who plays facetiously with her glasses reflecting and amplifying the impressive scenery as much as disturbing where a moonlight tower - evoking the Black Island - stands in the background .
This is a very successful study for the final poster for the 2009 Villeneuve les Avignon Festival du Polar. Very graphic, aesthetic, this precious study provides an overview of the artist's artistic maturation process.

At the game of differences with the final poster which had required three months of work, retouching and modifications, called by the artist himself on his blog “Adieu aux Trench-Coat”: it is about an un inked graphite drawing, in which concern arises although seduction dominates, heroin still has a frontal positioning in this study; the beautiful trench will be drawn three-quarters on the left in the final project and the private hidden behind a camera and the poster he is holding in his hands, in an inked night filled with cormorants.
Thrill and glamor guaranteed.
