"Royal Wallpaper With Arms By Charles Philippe De France Futur Charles X Restoration Period"
Royal wallpaper with the arms of Charles Philippe of France, Monsieur Frère du Roi and future Charles X. It is composed of a central part sown with golden lily flowers on a big blue background, a lower frieze with lily flowers and a large frieze above the arms of France surrounded by the Order of the Holy Spirit alternating with the figure CP (Charles Philippe) surrounded by a laurel wreath. Restoration period, 1820s. This is undoubtedly a royal order under Louis XVIII for the apartments of the Comte d'Artois, future Charles X. To date and in the state of our research, the destination of this wallpaper is not clearly established. (Tuileries Palace? Or other royal residence: Saint Cloud ...). Our wallpaper is in new condition, in rolls that have never been installed. This is wallpaper made by hand with a plank (gouache). Because of the conditions of conservation, the wallpaper having never been exposed to light, the colors remained as new and extremely fresh. The deep blue of the background is probably obtained with Lapis Lazzuli powder. We have 6 pieces of dark fleur-de-lysé, 1 large top border in 2 fittings, which is complete with 3 monograms and 3 coats of arms. It is possible to assemble the wallpaper by completing the missing fittings with fleur-de-lis or blue background which would be hidden behind the friezes and thus constitute a panel of approximately 197cm x 288cm. We sell the rolls as is which can be glued to the wall or canvassed, which leaves more choice on the use. NB: the detail photos were taken outdoors in natural light. For the assembly of the assembled parts, we had to do it indoors to avoid a gust of wind which would tear the fragile assembly. Exceptional historical souvenir from royal provenance, very rare
