"Portrait Of Éléonore, Pastel From The Louis XV Period."
This adorable pastel portrait of a little girl has a label on the back, where the first names of the child and the name of the pastellist are written, unfortunately in poor condition, only part of the text is legible. Here is what is written: "Eleonore, Amandine, Jeanne, Françoise, Bernardin Bouchet of ... ........, painted at the age of thirty four months by sir ... .......... .. officer of… ...... of Soubise ”. It is probably about an officer of the army of Soubise, commanded by Charles de Rohan prince of Soubise and minister of Louis XV. Full of charm, this little portrait is a moving testimony of a time when the art of drawing was taught to young people who were well born at the same time as equestrian art or fencing. Period mid-18th century. Frame dimensions (gilded wood, bronzed) 46 cm x 59 cm, view 32 cm x 44 cm.
