"Toradja Funeral Fetish, Taotao"
The tao tao statues accompanied the dead on the way to the funeral home at the burial site where they were then installed as guardians of the ancestors. The Toraja (Sulawesi Islands) worshiped these statues to which they presented offerings. The copy offered here is very old, no one can give such a magnificent patina of time to this wood. This face, base of 29cm x 16 cm fixes eternity with aplomb, certain of its protective powers.
