"XVIIIth Century Bordeaux Scribanne Commode"
Scriban or Scriban chest of drawers in molded exotic wood, port work, Bordeaux 18th century. The flat front of the scriban opens onto two bordered drawers, the feet are slightly curved (damaged see photos) and the low crossing delicately edged. Beautiful brass fittings. The flap with round corners discovers a rich interior or "theater". The interior of this scriban is structured like a cabinet: it opens in the center below a small ledge on a tabernacle door flanked by eight drawers. Attacked feet, presence of some stains, missing the lock of the flap and the keys. This rare Scriban chest of drawers is characteristic of the port work of the time, of an elegant sobriety it presents fluid forms and a solid wood in shimmering tones, it is the proof of a rich work of cabinetmaking.
