"Gérard Cochet"
Large pastel representing a mother holding her baby in her arms, touches a little Fauvist for this sweet maternity signed lower right G. Lochet and dated 1918, framing of a wooden stick painted gray-beige, all in good condition. Dim. 92 x 107 cm, ax 81 cm. G. Lochet (1888-1969) From 1909 to 1914, he attended the Julian Academy in Paris where he attended the lessons of Henri Royer and Marcel Baschet. His notebooks by Sergeant Cochet, gathering drawings and sketches made on the Front and elements from his personal diary, are precious testimony to this painful experience. As a painter of the Navy, he also executed works to decorate the officers' room or the living room of the commander of the buildings: the destroyer Terrible, the submarine Surcouf, the destroyer Tartu, the commander's office in Orly, the Brest foam school (watercolors), the Toulon arsenal, etc. Professor at the Ranson Academy from 1932 to 1935, he was a founding member and Vice-President of La Jeune Gravure Contemporaine (1928). He was also a member of the Society of Painter and Engravers, the Salon des Indépendants and the Salon d'Automne Committee.
