About ...
AMPHORA
DURING THE JUGENDSTIL PERIOD, THE PRODUCTION OF CERAMICS IS VERY IMPORTANT IN AUSTRIA AND MORE PARTICULARLY NORTHERN BOHEMIAN, IN THE TEPLICE REGION. THIS REGION IS BORDERED WITH SAXONY, NOT AWAY FROM DRESDEN AND MEISSEN, HIGH PLACE OF GERMAN PORCELAIN. BECOME CZECHOSLOVAK IN 1918 AND BELONGING TO THE SUDETES, IT IS ANNEXED BY GERMANY NAZI IN 1938 UNTIL 1945. ONE CANNOT NAME ALL THE CERAMIC MANUFACTURES THAT WORKED IN THIS AREA, ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT MANUFACTURES IS AMPHOR. THE MAIN FACTORY WAS LOCATED IN THE AREA OF TURN TEPLITZ (TRNOVANY TODAY). AMPHORA WAS CREATED IN 1892 BY THREE FRIENDS, REISSNER, STELLMACHER AND KESSEL. AT THE BEGINNING, THE COMPANY WAS CALLED RSTK. IT WAS AFTER STELLMACHER'S DEPARTURE IN 1905 THAT THE MANUFACTURE TAKEN THE NAME OF AMPHORA. MANY ARTISTS DRAWED MODELS FOR THE BRAND. WE CAN QUOTE PAUL DACHSEL (CIRCA 1880-?) AND ALSO THE SWEDISH ANIMAL SCULPTOR OTTO JARL (1856-1915) WHO COLLABORATES MORE OFTEN WITH THE MEISSEN PORCELAIN MANUFACTURE
