Duaring the middle of the 1960s, Ugo La pietra created a number of experimental lighrts made of methacrylate that were based on his reseaches into"weaves". The Globo Tissurato floor light was, according to him, "the first lamp to incorporate a miniature potentiometer (electric divece activated by ultrasound or phisical proximity) to regulate the light intensity and functioned almost as a scale model for an audiovisual environment which he later created in San Benedetto del Tronto in 1969.
