Drawing attributed to Léon SOULIÉ (1807-1862). It is made up of several sketches taken from life: infantry groups, studies from the back, profile of an elegant man with a hat. It is probably a sheet from a drawing notebook. On the back of the frame is marked "Soulié 1840" (with reservations). Please note: This drawing is in good condition, however some redness and stains. Please take a good look at the photos. Antoine Léon Soulié born November 17, 1804 in Pompignan and died May 5, 1862 in Toulouse, is a French painter. He studied at the School of Fine Arts in Toulouse. Landscape and rural painter, deeply rooted in the soil of French Southwest, we know of him views of Albi, Castres and Toulouse. Some of his paintings are kept at the Musée du Vieux Toulouse. He constantly roams the streets, the banks of the Garonne with a sketchbook, leaving an impressive body of documentary on urban landscapes and the daily life of his time. A street in Toulouse bears his name.
