Gashghaï rug, called Sofreh, measuring 95 cm by 95 cm, 102 cm with fringes from the beginning of the XXth century.
These rather rare small carpets are knotted by the Gashghaï nomads in Iran in the province of Fars, but also by the Béloutche tribes next to Iranian Kurdistan.
These Sofrehs are a kind of tablecloth that is placed on the floor of the tent to place the patty of bread and food during meals taken together and are only used at mealtimes. Sometimes decorated with a cross to indicate the place of the dishes, but always square to almost square, with a known maximum for the size of approximately, 170 cm x 170 cm. Knotted from goat, sheep and camel wool, they are made of wool on wool, and were always very well maintained. Our model decorated with justaposed medallions, tribal stylized patterns, trees of life, flowers, animals is in good condition and has nuances ranging from sienna, yellow ocher and indigot blue.
These colors are all from nature, plants and minerals are used to make the dyes.
This carpet is in very good condition with only minimal wear.
This carpet has been professionally and ecologically cleaned.
