The oval-shaped bas-relief, representing in the ancient style a man and a woman in profile, is a terracotta modeling with a trompe-l'oeil decoration enamelled with porphyry on a background of Siena, work late 19th century .

The oval wooden frame is also decorated with marble trompe-l'oeil.
