Playing with the light on the Bosphorus and the smoke of the vapors, Lunois realizes a magnificent ethereal vision of the "Süleymaniye" mosque. Our pastel exhibited under number 11 in the Lunois catalog of 1912 entitled "the Süleymanié mosque" has kept its exhibition label on the back. Original frame. Kept to this day in the family of his friend Mr X, former French consul in Istanbul. A photocopy of the 1912 Lunois catalog will be attached to the table. Alexandre Lunois (Paris 1863 - 1916). French painter, engraver, poster designer and illustrator, he participated in the Salon of French artists from 1882 to 1892. Member of orientalist painters he made many trips to Belgium, Holland, Morocco and Spain where he painted "Andalusia in the time of the Moors" exhibited at the 1900 universal exhibition in the Spanish pavilion.
