"Cane Monoxyle Folk Art Wood Carved Spiny Eve Serpent Bishop 1882"
Carved boxwood cane (monoxyle), decorated with a bishop with his miter as well as a man praying with folded hands, pommel in the shape of an animal, inscriptions "L.9J.V", "Z.Rie" and dated 1882, with a portrait of Eve and the tempting serpent wrapped around the barrel (carved in thorny wood style), work of Popular Art, from the XIXth century. This rod is in good condition, high quality. Signed "Made by Jean Baptiste Hervé" at the top of the barrel. A note: missing a piece of the dog at the end of the pommel, small break and missing a thorn on the barrel, some cracks and wear on the wood, missing the ferrule, see photos (see red arrows).
